Lukasz Fabianski says West Ham will not give up hope of finishing in the Premier League’s top four, despite dropping out of the Champions League places following their defeat at Arsenal.
The Hammers went into the game looking to extend the gap over the chasing pack in the race for the top four but ended the night below Arsenal.
David Moyes’s side remain just a point behind Arsenal but are battling an injury crisis, with five defenders out last night and Vladimir Coufal now suspended after his second-half red card.
Fabianksi, however, remains confident that the east Londoners can break into the top four.
“There is a strong belief,” said the keeper.
“We lost and there are bad emotions, but then we’ve played against some really good teams this season and beaten them, so we can take confidence from that.
“You’ll always get setbacks and sometimes setbacks help put your mindset back on the right track.”
With Coufal banned, Moyes is short of full-backs for Saturday’s game against Norwich. Youngster Harrison Ashby came off the bench for his first Premier League appearance last night and is in contention to start.
“I hope Ryan [Fredericks], Ben [Johnson] or Cressie [Aaron Cresswell] can get themselves available,” said Moyes.
