Lukas Jensen's Bolton Wanderers spell reviewed as Burnley goalkeeper moves to Icelandic side

Lukas Jensen's Bolton Wanderers loan spell provided him with valuable experience of being around a first team environment in a promotion winning campaign.

That's the view of Burnley goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer after the Dane moved out on loan once more, this time to Icelandic club Kordrengir for the next two months.

The 22-year-old moved to Wanderers in the January transfer window from the Clarets, but did not make a first team appearance as veteran Matt Gilks kept hold of the number one spot at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Jensen made the bench five times for Bolton during their League Two automatic promotion winning campaign, including the final three games of the season.

He has now gone out on loan again, this time to Iceland for the next few months to continue his first-team education.

And Mercer hopes his next loan spell will be as valuable a one for Jensen as his time at the UniBol was.

“It’s a good move for him and a chance to play some competitive football,” said Mercer.

“Being at Bolton around the first-team environment in a promotion race has been a really valuable experience for him and this will be another one.

“It’s credit to him that he hasn’t seen his family for a long time but wants to go out to another country and play over the summer.

“We’ll give him a couple of weeks off afterwards and then he’ll come back and we’ll see what’s best for him after that.”
