Luka Modric 'open to Man City move' as Dusan Vlahovic is given transfer ultimatum

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the most interesting Manchester City stories of the day.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is reportedly willing to join City in a sensational move if he's unable to extend his contract with the La Liga giants.

Meanwhile, City’s search for a striker continues to dominate the headlines, with Dusan Vlahovic and Darwin Nunez just two of the many names linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, and there's some interesting news concerning both players doing the rounds...

Modric considers Premier League return

City’s midfield options will be reduced next summer if Fernandinho leaves the club, though Guardiola has previously been linked with a move for Real Madrid's Modric.

El Nacional have reported that Modric hasn't ruled out a move to City and is even willing to rebuff an approach from former Real boss Jose Mourinho who is currently at the helm of Roma. However, it's understood Modric would prefer to extend his time with Los Blancos.

With less than one year remaining on his current deal in Spain, it remains to be seen whether a new deal will be tabled.

It's no surprise to see Guardiola assessing his options in the market, with Fernandinho potentially being joined by Bernardo Silva in leaving the Etihad Stadium next summer.

As we all know, City were unsuccessful in their pursuit of a replacement for club legend Sergio Aguero in the summer, and one man who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester is Vlahovic.

It's unclear whether City would express an interest in him in January, but his relationship with current club Fiorentina looks to be on the rocks after Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Vlahovic has been told he will only be allowed to stay at Fiorentina if he parts ways with his agent.

The report adds that Fiorentina have valued Vlahovic at a whopping £76 million, with the Serie A outfit seemingly open to the idea of cutting ties after he turned down a contract that was set to see him become the highest-paid player in the club's history.

Darwin Nunez still a target for Guardiola

City have also been linked with striker Darwin Nunez in recent times.

Portuguese outlet Record report that Guardiola has been monitoring the striker since last year prior to his move to Benfica.

The 22-year-old's contract contains a £127 million release clause, though it seems Guardiola hasn't been deterred by his price tag and has continued to watch his development.
