Luka Milivojevic's honest assessment of Matteo Guendouzi's challenge on Wilfried Zaha

Luka Milivojevic has admitted that he would have done the same thing as Matteo Guendouzi if he was in the Frenchman's position when he hurled down Wilfried Zaha at the Emirates.

The Ivory Coast international seemed set to have a free run at the Arsenal box before the Gunners youngster wrapped his arms around the waste Zaha in a very cynical manner.

With the scores locked at 2-2, it sparked fury in the Crystal Palace ranks but the Eagles captain believes it was a 'good tactical foul'.

He told the official Crystal Palace programme: "I must discuss Matteo Guendouzi's challenge on Wilf at the end. Of course, I now it is hard for us to see that challenge because it was against usin a big moment but I must say it was a good tactical foul from him.

"You have to do that in football sometimes and if I'm in the same situation, I would do it for the team;  you have to sacrifice the card because Wilfried would go one-on-one with their goalkeeper and maybe we win."

The foul might have cost Crystal Palace the win but despite no intention to play the ball, it turns out a yellow card is the right decision. Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher explained why.

He said: “I think the fact he brought his arms down very quickly, rather than getting him in the face. He ends up grabbing him around the waist. It’s the most cynical foul you will ever see

"But where it is on the field it doesn’t meet any of the criteria for a red card."
