Luka Jovic to Chelsea: What Frankfurt star has planned for his future amid transfer links

Luka Jovic has been one of the stories of the season so far and now Chelsea will get to see the Eintracht Frankfurt striker up close.

The 21-year-old has been on fire this season with 17 Bundesliga goals and another eight in the Europa League, which has perked the interest of many clubs around Europe.

One of those has been Chelsea as their striker woes continue with Gonzalo Higuain struggling to fire, Alvaro Morata off on loan at Atletico Madrid and Olivier Giroud's future still up in the air.

Chelsea are yet to really find a replacement for Diego Costa since his departure and many look towards Jovic as potentially that man.

However, what does the future hold for him and where does he see his future?

football.london understands that Jovic is happy to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt for at least another season should they get into the Champions League next season.

Last month, Eintracht exercised a clause in Jović's contract to make his loan move from Benfica permanent until the summer of 2023, however that doesn't mean he can't move on.

As well as being in the Europa League semi-final, the German side are fourth in the Bundesliga table with three games to go, which would guarantee them Champions League football next season.

The other issue, of course, is the impending transfer ban that Chelsea are facing. The appeal process is still going on, which started on April 11, and the Blues are yet to understand their fate.

However, if Jovic commits to another season with Eintracht, that could be good news for the Blues. It will allow them the chance to think about a signing next season, rather than rushing into another poor choice in the summer.

Tonight, however, the Blues will be hoping his slight dip in form continues with the striker having not netted in four games in a row.
