Luka Jovic returns to Real Madrid after coronavirus lockdown with foot fracture

Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has returned from the coronavirus lockdown with a foot fracture, the club has revealed.

Jovic was back at Madrid's Valdebebas base on Wednesday for Covid-19 tests and medical examinations as Real stepped up their preparations for a return to training on Monday.

But if LaLiga does get back under way as planned in June, the 22-year-old now looks unlikely to be fit.

"After the tests carried out today on our player Luka Jovic by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot," Los Blancos said on their website on Friday.

Madrid gave no indication of how long Jovic could be out, saying only that the injury is "pending evolution", but the forward is expected to be sidelined for several weeks at least.

The Serbian international, a €60million signing from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, has scored just two goals in 24 appearances so far for Zinedine Zidane's side.
