PHOENIX _ Fittingly, Luka Doncic closed his November to remember with another monster performance Friday night, in the process saving the Mavericks from another night to forget at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Doncic had 42 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists, and Tim Hardaway scored 26 points to lift the Mavericks to a 120-113 comeback victory over Phoenix in front of a raucous Suns crowd.
The Mavericks (12-6) overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit to improve to 6-2 on the road, including 4-0 against Western Conference teams. The Mavericks also overcame a two-point game by Kristaps Porzingis, who shot 0 for 8 from the field, though he did pull down a team-high 13 rebounds.
Doncic became only the third player in NBA history to average a 30-point triple-double over the span of a calendar month. The others to do it are Oscar Robertson (five times) and Russell Westbrook (twice).
This was the Mavericks' first win here since opening night of the 2015-16 season, Oct. 28, 2015. In their four straight losses here, the Mavericks were outscored by an average of 111.5 to 97.0.
This time, however, Dallas opened a three-game trip, which continues Sunday against the Lakers, by closing November with a 9-5 record for the month. This is the team's best 18-game start since the 2010-2011 championship team started 14-4.
The Mavericks scored 31 first-quarter points and took as much as a 48-36 lead in the second period, but they bogged down offensively during the final 4:31 of the first half and first 6:52 of the third period.
During those ice-cold 10-plus minutes, they were outscored 38-16. Doncic, however, played all 12 third-quarter minutes, and his 14 points in the period helped pull the Mavericks to an 89-89 tie.
Mirroring their recent strong starts, the Mavericks took a 31-25 first-quarter lead.
