The new-look Dallas Mavericks held off the Pelicans on Friday night to move to 2-0 on the season, and 2018-2019 Rookie of the Year winner Luka Doncic had another monster game to open the year.
Doncic recorded a triple-double, finishing the game with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and he drained a dagger with 1:23 remaining with a stepback banked three over the defense.
Through two games this season, Doncic is averaging 29.5 points 9.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game, up from his 21.2-7.8-6.0 line as a rookie. It remains to be seen whether Doncic can keep up this pace, but he looks like an All-Star favorite early on.
