Luis Suarez will be forced to undergo an operation after suffering a knee injury.
Barcelona striker Suarez played the full 90 minutes as the Catalan giants were sensationally dumped out of the Champions League by Liverpool .
The 4-0 defeat on Merseyside, which saw Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum both bag braces, was the Uruguayan's first return to the Reds since he left the club in 2014.
Suarez will have keyhole surgery on a medial meniscus injury in his right knee, having previously received stem cell treatment on the same leg earlier in the season.
The injury will mean Suarez will miss Barca's last two La Liga fixtures of the campaign, against Getafe and Eibar - with the title already wrapped up.

He will also likely be forced to sit out of Barca's Copa del Rey final against Valencia, with the clash scheduled to take place on May 25.
Barca have refused to put a return date for Suarez to recover in but it is set to mean a lay off for six weeks.
In a statement, the club said: "The first team player Luis Suarez has an medial meniscus injury in his right knee and surgeon Dr Cugat will perform arthroscopic surgery on the Uruguayan under the supervision of the club's medical staff.

"The outcome of the process and an estimate of how long the striker will be out will be announced following the surgery."
Suarez has been integral to Barca's second straight Spanish league title, netting 25 goals in 49 appearances.
