Luis Suarez signs for Gremio and joins up with former Liverpool favourite

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has signed for a new club at the age of 35.

The ex- Reds forward was made a free agent after leaving Uruguayan club Nacional In October. Since then, the experienced striker has been searching for a new home.

Brazilian club Gremio have confirmed the signing of Suarez on a two-year deal that runs until the end of 2024.

Gremio announced the deal on Saturday, with Suarez expected to link up with his new club in mid-January. It will be the fourth side the striker has signed for since leaving Liverpool in 2014.

Suarez spent six years at Barcelona before he joined Atletico Madrid in 2020. He would enjoy two years in the Spanish capital before being released last summer as a free agent.

The 35-year-old would later return to his homeland in Uruguay, and sign for his boyhood club Nacional. During his time there, Suarez scored eight goals in 14 appearances and helped Nacional win their 49th Uruguayan title.

Suarez has now signed for Gremio, and will link up with a familiar face. Fellow former Liverpool star Lucas Leiva will be a team-mate of Suarez, with the pair previously playing together at Anfield with the Reds.
