Luis Suarez sends Rangers message as striker responds to Steven Gerrard Ibrox reunion poser

Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez was quizzed about reuniting with Steven Gerrard at Rangers - but insists they're doing fine without him.

The Uruguay international played alongside the Ibrox boss at Liverpool, going close to title glory in the 2013-14 campaign.

Suarez then moved on to Barcelona while Gerrard failed to win the title with his beloved Reds before ending his career at LA Galaxy.

Having moved into management though he won the Premiership with Rangers last season, stopping Celtic from doing 10 In A Row in the process.

Suarez, meanwhile, lifted the title in Spain after moving to Atletico Madrid and banging in 21 goals in just 32 games.

With both men having tasted success, it was put to Suarez in an interview that he could move to Scotland to work under his former team-matee.

Suarez told World Soccer magazine: "I think Stevie is doing just fine without me!

“I am pleased but not at all surprised to see him win the league with Rangers.

“Winning is what he does and at some point in the future I am sure he will be at Liverpool again.”

Suarez was also asked about the chances of his own return to Liverpool.

And while he's happy in Spain, the veteran admits Anfield is the only place in England he could play: "Playing for any team other than Liverpool in England would be hard.

"I had, and hope I still do have, such a good relationship with Liverpool fans that it would be strange for me to play for somebody else.

“It would have been special to win the league with Liverpool. But I am glad that their wait is now over.

“They look like a team that will compete for many seasons to come even if this one has not been the best for them. They are back where they belong.”
