Luis Suarez sends message to Liverpool fans ahead of Barcelona clash

Luis Suarez has sent Liverpool fans a message ahead of his first return to Anfield since quitting the Reds.

Barcelona striker Suarez spent three years at Liverpool between 2011 and 2014 before moving to the Catalan giants for £65million.

The 32-year-old scored 82 times in 133 appearances to become a Kop legend, winning the League Cup and finishing second in the Premier League on the way.

Suarez returns to Merseyside from Tuesday's Champions League second leg clash between Liverpool and Barcelona, with the visitors boasting a 3-0 aggregate lead - thanks to Uruguayan's strike and Lionel Messi's double.

He arrived in Liverpool on Monday and posted an incredible aerial shot of Anfield from his plane.

"Anfield I am excited to see you again," he accompanied the social media shot with.

Suarez will be accompanied by his entire family at Anfield on Tuesday night.

“I was talking to Sofi about Anfield and they said: ‘We’re going too.’ We’ll all go, except maybe Lauti," he explained in an interview with the Guardian last week.

"Benja was very small but he was born in Liverpool and knows it’s his first stadium; he’s seen photos.

"Part of Delfi’s childhood is there: when she first started to get excited by football, it was there. She remembers what it was like, singing You’ll Never Walk Alone, so imagine what this means for her."

Suarez added that he is looking forward to seeing old friends like Jamie Carragher, Jordan Henderson and Ray Haughan.

“It’s going to be a strange feeling but lovely, too. I saw Carra [Jamie Carragher] at Old Trafford and he was excited," Suarez said. "Jordan [Henderson] is still there; some friends of his came for the clásico.

"It’ll be nice to see the staff, like Ray [Haughan], who used to handle everything. And I’ve been getting messages from the lady in the canteen [at Melwood]; she wants to see the kids: she’d always look after Delfi, taking her into the kitchen with her. It’ll be nice to go back.”
