Luis Suarez sends message to fans who booed Philippe Coutinho in Barcelona vs Liverpool

Luis Suarez showed his support for Philippe Coutinho after he was booed by Barcelona fans during their win over Liverpool.

The former Reds midfielder started the first leg of the Champions league semi-final at the Nou Camp but failed to make an impact on the match.

The £142million signing was eventually replaced by Nelson Semedo and was greeted by a chorus of jeers from the Barcelona fans as he made his way off the pitch.

After the match, which Barcelona won 3-0, Suarez posed for a picture with his team-mate for Instagram.

Alongside the image the 32-year-old striker wrote: "We are strong together".

Suarez wasn't the only Barcelona star to show support to Coutinho, who has struggled to win the fans over since signing in 2018.

Messi told Movistar Plus after Wednesday night's game: "We are in a defining moment and it is not time to criticize anyone.
