Luis Suarez's agent says Lionel Messi's Barcelona future will affect transfer decision

Lionel Messi's next step will influence Luis Suarez's decision on where he will play next season, according to the Uruguayan's agent.

The football world is holding its breath after Messi told Barcelona he wants to leave the club at which he has spent his entire career.

Suarez's future is also up in the air after new Barca boss Ronald Koeman told the former Liverpool striker he is not part of his plans for next season.

The 33-year-old has reportedly held talks with MLS franchise Inter Miami, although it is believed he would prefer to remain in Europe.

Messi, who is also 33, could be reunited with former Barca boss Pep Guardiola as Manchester City head the queue for his signature.

The forward has also been linked with Inter Milan and PSG - although Barcelona will battle hard to keep the Argentine, regarded as one of the game's greatest ever players.

And Suarez's agent Alejandro Balbi says the impending decision of his "best friend" Messi will have an impact on his client's plans.

"Messi's future will have an influence because they are best friends," said Balbi to TyC Sports, via Goal.

"There is a lot of brotherly love between them; they are inseparable, always together."

Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool in 2014 and helped the Catalans win the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey treble in his first season.

The Blaugrauna also went on to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup the following season, as well as defending their domestic league and cup titles.

Barca have won both La Liga and the Copa del Rey twice again since then - but they face a rebuilding job after failing to win any silverware this season.

The Catalan club have placed the vast majority of their squad on the transfer list following their dismal season which ended with a humiliating European defeat to Bayern Munich.

Both Suarez and Messi have been targeted by Inter Miami, with David Beckham reportedly taking a lead role in transfer negotiations as he looks to put his franchise on the map by adding some star names.
