Luis Suarez makes Anfield celebration vow ahead of Liverpool vs Barcelona

Luis Suarez has promised Liverpool supporters that he won't celebrate if he scores for Barcelona at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Uruguayan Suarez caused controversy among Reds fans for the way he celebrated his strike for Barca in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

The striker waved arms around and slid on his knees which wound up the fans who used to idolise him.

Suarez spent four seasons at Anfield where he netted 82 times in 133 appearances before making a £65million switch to Barca in 2014.

The former Ajax man will make his first return to his old stomping ground and admits it will be a special feeling stepping out on Merseyside again.

"If I score tomorrow it will mean I can feel relaxed and Liverpool have to score more to qualify. But it won't relax me on a personal level. It's not about me getting more goals on my account."

"Liverpool helped me become more professional and mature. Having players here with great experience allowed me to become better. Being captain of Liverpool was one of the proudest moments of my career. We were very close when I was here.

"For any Liverpool player, the fans are an added extra to them. But we have to try and manage that. Their fans won't stop getting behind them. They will do that the whole game. They will want their team to push on, and that's where we have to be careful."
