Luis Suarez hits out at Lionel Messi transfer claim as "brotherly love" comment dismissed

Luis Suarez says he can "speak for myself" after his former lawyer claimed that his Barcelona future was tied to that of Lionel Messi.

The Uruguayan forward seems set to be one of the biggest casualties of the new Ronald Koeman era at Barcelona, with the Dutchman using one of his first acts as the club's manager to tell the 33-year-old that he wasn't in his plans.

Suarez has one year left on his Nou Camp contract, with Koeman believed to have informed him that he is free to attempt to cancel it and move elsewhere.

Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Samuel Umtiti are also said to have had similar conversations with the former Southampton, Everton and Netherlands boss, but those chats were then somewhat overshadowed by the news that Messi wants out of the club.

That led to Suarez's former lawyer Alejandro Balbi claiming that the Uruguayan's future would be tied to that of Messi, such is the strong bond between the pair which has developed ever since Suarez joined Barca from Liverpool in 2014.

"Messi's future will have an influence on Suarez's because they are best friends, they get along on and off the pitch,” he told TyC Sports.

“There is a lot of brotherly love between Messi and Suarez, they are inseparable, always together.”

However, Suarez has spoken out against Balbi's comments, claiming that the lawyer has no business in discussing his future given that they no longer have a relationship.

“There are people talking about me or on my behalf when I have not had a relationship with them for years,” he said on social media.

“When I need to speak, I'll speak for myself.”

The comments come as Goal.com report that Juventus are weighing up a move for the forward having been offered the chance to sign him.
