Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard send 'amazing' Everton reminder before Liverpool derby

Liverpool have an excellent recent record in Merseyside derbies, with the last Everton win at Anfield coming back in 1999.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool are yet to lose against the Blues, winning seven and drawing five so far, including in the FA Cup last season, when he made several changes and the game was decided by a wondergoal from the emerging Curtis Jones.

Predecessor Brendan Rodgers also had his fair share of good Merseyside derby moments, despite losing his job shortly after a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in October 2015.

Crucial to some of his victories were Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez.

Gerrard has taken to Instagram to post a picture of himself celebrating with the Uruguayan after scoring during the Anfield Merseyside derby in 2013/14 with the caption 'Derby day'.

Suarez replied to the Reds legend, commenting 'I will never forget this amazing times! Legend @stevengerrard when I made you score a hat-trick in a derby!'.

Suarez was referring to the hat-trick Gerrard had scored in March 2012 against David Moyes' Everton - the first hat-trick in a Merseyside derby since Ian Rush's at Goodison Park in 1982.

A win for Liverpool today would move them six points clear of Everton in the Premier League standings having played a game more.
