Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho weren't the only former Liverpool stars celebrating Barcelona win

Ex-Liverpool player Javier Mascherano risked the wrath of Reds supporters after showing his support for Barcelona following their 3-0 Champions League win over Jurgen Klopp's side.

The Argentine midfielder spent three-and-a-half seasons at Anfield before making the move to the Catalan club in 2010.

But the 34-year-old appeared made it clear who he was supporting in a post on Twitter.

Mascherano , who played alongside Lionel Messi for seven-and-a-half years in Spain, wanted to congratulate his former team-mate for club and country on his phenomenal achievement.

And he posted an image of his compatriot in celebration of his 600th Barca goal.

Mascherano shared the picture with a muted caption containing several full stops.

Meanwhile, former Reds goalscorer, Luis Suarez, was also in a celebratory mood after opening the scoring with an excellent first-half finish.

Following the semi-final clash the Uruguayan shared a picture smiling alongside Philippe Coutinho.

It was uploaded to his Instagram story alongside an interesting caption which read: "We are stronger together."

Suarez and Coutinho are set to make their respective returns to Merseyside next Tuesday.

With Ernesto Valverde's side seeking to advance into their first Champions League final since 2015.
