Luis Suarez and Atletico Madrid given major boost ahead of Liverpool Champions League clash

Liverpool will feel the full might of the Atletico Madrid support next month after the green light was given for stadiums in Spain to operate at full capacity.

The Spanish government has confirmed a month-long trial will start on Friday permitting outdoor venues to have maximum attendance.

The first major La Liga fixture that will benefit from the change will be Atletico's home game against Barcelona on Sunday.

And Liverpool, whose next Champions League group game is in Spain against Diego Simeone's side on October 19, are now poised to experience the Wanda Metropolitano at full voice once again having lost 1-0 there in their round of 16 visit in February 2020.

Jurgen Klopp's side top Group B with two wins from two having won 5-1 at Porto on Tuesday, with Atletico two points adrift after coming from behind to 2-1 win at AC Milan thanks to an injury-time penalty from former Reds striker Luis Suarez.

Games in Spain were played behind closed doors for the entirety of last season due to the coronavirus pandemic, including Liverpool's Champions League quarter-final at Real Madrid.

An improved situation meant this campaign started with 40% capacity allowed, which increased to 60% at the start of September.

Supporters will have to wear a mask, with the change being assessed by the authorities at the end of October.
