Luis Robert, Matt Tomshaw named White Sox top minor leaguers for July

Class AAA Charlotte center fielder Luis Robert was named White Sox Minor League Player of the Month for July and AA Birmingham left-hander Matt Tomshaw was named Pitcher of the Month as voted by a panel of Chicago-area media members.

The honor was the third this season for Robert, 21, who batted .330/.400/.660 with seven homers, three triples, five doubles, 17 RBI, 10 stolen bases, 28 runs scored and 1.060 OPS over 23 games in July between Birmingham and Charlotte.

Robert is MLB Pipeline’s No. 5 prospect. Tomshaw is not ranked among the Sox’ top 30 prospects.

In 94 games between Class A Winston-Salem, Birmingham and Charlotte, Robert is hitting .345/.400/.629 with 22 homers, nine triples, 25 doubles, 68 RBI, 34 steals and 86 runs scored.

Tomshaw went 1-1 with a 1.07 ERA, and 0.74 WHIP over five starts for Birmingham. He is a combined 6-6 with a 3.16 ERA in 21 games (12 starts) between Charlotte and Birmingham.
