Arsenal youngster Luis Munoz has made history by becoming the youngest player to ever feature in the UEFA Youth League.
Munoz, who is 13, came off the bench for Arsenal’s Under-19 side during their match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday afternoon.
The midfielder is now the youngest player to play in the UEFA Youth League, beating the previous record that was held by Liam Payas.
Payas was 14 years and 93 days old when he played for Lincoln Red Imps in September of last year.
Munoz has made his UEFA Youth League debut before his 14th birthday - which is not until next month.
He has played up age groups before and, in September, was part of the England Under-15 squad.
The midfielder was also part of Arsenal’s Under-16 squad earlier this month that were crowned Premier League National Champions.
Munoz came on with five minutes to go of Arsenal’s match with Bayern, which they won 4-2, replacing Kyran Thompson to play up front.
Thompson was on the scoresheet for Arsenal, scoring their second goal after setting up Max Dowman for the first.
Ceadach O’Neill found the net for the Gunners’ third goal, which turned out to be the winner.
Yil Gashi had put Bayern ahead in the first half, and Ljubo Puljic pulled a late goal back for them, but Dowman made it 4-2 late on with a stunning solo goal.
Emerson Nwaneri, whose older brother Ethan plays for Arsenal’s first team, also came off the bench to make his debut. The midfielder is only 15.
