Luis Garcia agrees with Jamie Carragher's Liverpool criticism after Everton defeat

Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia has come to the defence of Jamie Carragher after his strong criticism of the Reds following their 2-0 home defeat to Everton on Saturday.

Carragher was on Monday Night Football yesterday covering Brighton vs Crystal Palace but as is usually the case with the well-known football show, the former Liverpool star looked back on the weekend's games.

The former defender insisted he would not apologise to fans if they are upset with his recent criticism of the team despite winning the Premier League last season and the Champions League the campaign before.

He told Sky Sports : "What I would say is I was very critical of Liverpool on commentary in the derby game - and it seemed to upset a section of the Liverpool supporters, shall we say, that I wasn't maybe more supportive, and I didn't look at the reasons why," he told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

"What I would say is that I've analysed this Liverpool team for three years now, certainly when it has been at its best under Jurgen Klopp, and I come off shows like this or commentating on Liverpool, and if you're an Everton supporter, a Manchester City supporter or a Manchester United supporter, you say: 'Carragher, biased for Liverpool. All he ever says is positive things'.

"Premier League champions, European Cup winners, best team in the world. There's nothing negative to say. Right now there is, and if I upset some Liverpool fans, I don't apologise for it.

"What this team has done is amazing and we love them - but it doesn't mean they are exempt from criticism."

Carragher then alluded to how Jurgen Klopp could do with altering his formation and defensive set-up, with Garcia reacting to the analysis by praising his former Liverpool teammate.

“Great analysis of the derby. It’s not about criticising the Reds. It’s a point of view after analysing the game," Garcia said on his Instagram.
