Luguentz Dort gets into swing of preseason with a little help

It was a homecoming of sorts for Thunder rookie Luguentz Dort.

The Montreal native spent time Thursday with a class of fourth graders at Bicentennial Park experiencing the travelling art exhibit, Musical Swings, which is based out of his hometown.

Musical Swings, an interactive exhibit, came to Oklahoma City ‘in honor of the 50thanniversary of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation’, as noted by Thunder digital reporter, Paris Lawson.

“I love everything about Montreal, because I’m from there, so the fact that they were able to bring this to Oklahoma City is great,”

Dort is entering his first season in Oklahoma City. He played one year at Arizona State before going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft. He was signed by the Thunder to a two-way contract shortly after.

His short career as a Sun Devil was an impressive one. The 20-year-old was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-Pac 12 Second Team, the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team and the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.

The Thunder players have been a steady presence in the Oklahoma City community as of late. On Wednesday, Dort, along with Nerlens Noel and Hamidou Diallo stopped by a local coffee shop to learn the ins-and-outs of coffee making, while Terrance Ferguson and Justin Patton recently helped rebuild a home in the Oklahoma City area as part of the She Builds initiative, that together with Rebuilding Together OKC, helps provide home repairs to women in need.
