German airline Lufthansa has removed a video commercial for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after it featured photos from the Ukrainian capital Kiev and not Moscow.
After admitting its mistake and apologizing, the airline stated on Monday: “We noticed in the first comments that this hurt the feelings of some viewers.”
The commercial is no longer available on YouTube and Facebook.
According to the German News Agency, the clip shows two German fans who are supposedly in Moscow, aiming to repeat everything they did in Brazil four years ago, such as meeting the locals and spending time on the beach.
But the background of the video features a church and a street that are obviously in Kiev.
"The video was recorded in Kiev for logistical reasons," the company said in a statement, adding that this is common in long promotional films.
