Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review: soft, firm and breathable luxury

Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review.

In T3’s Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review, I slept on this pillow for a few weeks to find out if bamboo bedding is really as supportive and comfortable as mattress brands claim.

Bamboo is becoming one of the most popular materials for sleep products, including mattresses, sheets, pyjamas and the best pillows. It has so many benefits that have been found to improve your sleep, like good temperature regulation, sensitivity for allergy sufferers and gentleness to the skin and hair. It’s also a sustainable and eco-friendly material, so it’s kind to your sleep and the environment.

After hearing about how bamboo is the best material for sleep, I decided to find out for myself by testing the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow. Here’s my full review and thoughts on bamboo bedding.

Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review: price and availability

The Luff Bamboo Forest pillow is £59.99 and available to buy at Luff Sleep and select retailers like Amazon. Luff Sleep has many bamboo pillow products to choose from, and the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow is the cheapest option you can find from the brand.

Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review: design and features

One of the main features of the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow is its bamboo material. It’s filled with a hollowfibre filling that offers medium to firm levels of firmness, with the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow having a 4/10 firm rating. It has a similar feel to down, except it’s a sustainable and eco-friendly material that’s both comfortable and fluffy.

Designed for soft pillow lovers, the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow offers support around the neck, head and upper back to keep you cushioned and supported during sleep. The bamboo material is also naturally antibacterial, so it’s great for allergy sufferers and those who are sensitive to dust. The Luff Bamboo Forest pillow also has a removable and washable pillow case that has a fun geometric pattern with bamboo leaves and wording printed on it.

Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review: performance

The Luff Bamboo Forest pillow has a 4/10 firmness rating which implies that it’s on the softer side. However, I found the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow to be quite firm. This might be because I’d been using a memory foam pillow which was extremely squishy and I’d gotten used to that feeling. But for me, the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow felt medium-firm yet soft, so if you don’t like firm pillows, this might not be the one for you.

Having said that, the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow strikes a good balance between softness and firmness, and you don’t feel like you’re sinking into it. It has a bit of ‘give’ and offers great support around the neck and head. I didn’t experience any pain or strains while using it and much preferred it to my memory foam pillow which had lost support overtime.

Bamboo is known for its temperature regulation, as its construction allows for better airflow to make it more breathable. It’s also moisture wicking so it can keep you cool during hotter months and warm during the colder months. As a sweaty sleeper, I was looking forward to seeing how the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow would perform with this, and I can honestly say it helped a great deal with keeping me cool and less hot and bothered. Hot sleepers will definitely love it, plus if it does get sweaty, the cover is washable.

Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review: verdict

The Luff Bamboo Forest pillow is my new favourite pillow, and I don’t see myself going back to a memory foam pillow anytime soon… or ever for that matter! It's soft and springy to the touch yet has a surprising amount of firmness which doesn’t feel uncomfortable but offers better support and comfort. It might not be for you if you prefer a pillow that moulds to your head, but the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow gets top marks from me.

Luff Bamboo Forest pillow review: alternatives to consider

A good alternative to consider is the Panda Memory Foam Bamboo pillow. It’s another bamboo option and caters to memory foam lovers. Both pillows have a similar price so you’ll have to decide what level of firmness you want.

Another eco-friendly pillow option is the Soak&Sleep Supremely Soft as Down pillow. This pillow is made of two different types of microfibre which offers a similar feel to down feathers, except it’s not actually taken from a bird. It’s soft, fluffy, luxurious and affordable, just like the Luff Bamboo Forest pillow.
