Ludhiana: Fire breaks out in godown in Field Ganj, no casualties

LUDHIANA: A major fire broke out in a godown, Kutcha number 16, in Field Ganj early on Thursday morning.

The fire took place in a building where plastic was stored in a huge quantity and within a few seconds the fire spread in the entire building.

The fire fighters were pressed into action after receiving the information.

The firemen tried dousing the flames but black smoke created problem in controlling the situation.

Luckily, there was no loss of life or injury to anyone, but material kept inside the godown gutted in fire completely.

"It was at around 5.45am when we received the fire call and rushed to the spot. Firemen are dousing the flames from inside and also from adjoining buildings of area," said Rajinder Singh, leading fireman.

Singh said that it will take some more time to control the fire completely.

Being among the most congested and thickly populated areas of city, fire could have been major if it had taken place in day time as lots of traffic remains all around.

Since adjoining shops were closed, the fire tenders could move easily.
