LUDHIANA: A protest took place outside A zone office of MC near Mata Rani Chowk on Wednesday by the members of sewer men safai karamchari sangharsh committee.
They staged a protest with a demand to regularise the class IV employees which was announced and even approved during assembly elections. The union members announced in case their demands are not redressed, they will start regular protests from next week. They also threatened to burn the effigies of elected representatives from next week.

He said they will sit on regular and daily protest from next week if their demands are not fulfilled.
Meanwhile the other demands of union members included a school for employees of civic body for quality education, implementation of old pension scheme, recruitment of sanitary inspectors, probation period for employees should be reduced from 3 years to one years etc.
