Lucy Mecklenburgh says son gets 'jealous' of baby sister and demands attention

Lucy Mecklenburgh has admitted her son gets "jealous" of his new baby sister, who was born eight weeks ago.

The TOWIE star, 30, shares Roman, two and Lilah with actor Ryan Thomas, 38, and took to Instagram to answer fans' questions about the siblings' relationship.

Asked how their son was coping with the new addition, Lucy shared a playful pic of Lilah with dinosaur stickers on her head as Roman grinned for the camera.

She captioned the snap: "This was last night haha. He's really good with her, but he does occasionally get jealous and tells me to put her down and wants mummy."

However elsewhere in her Stories, Lucy shared a video of Roman proudly pushing his sister in a pram as the family enjoyed a day out a the garden centre.

The mum-of-two was later asked by fans if Lilah had started to smile, with the reality star confirming she did at around four weeks.

Explaining that she wasn't worried about her kids "hitting milestones", Lucy then revealed Roman didn't walk until 16 months.

"People always had a comment about it, but I knew he would in his own time," she said.

"I thought you don't ever see any kids crawling into school, do you?

"If you are ever worried, call your health visitor to put your mind at rest."

Lucy recently shared her heartbreak over her young son's recent health scare.

The former TOWIE star was left terrified in September 2021 after Roman was rushed to hospital after being found "blue in his cot".

He was put on a ventilator in intensive care, something Lucy described at the time was "every parent's worst nightmare".

Since then, he has needed daily medication and an inhaler to help him breathe properly.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on the weekend, Lucy shared her sadness at being "back here" after "a positive few months".

Posting a photo of Roman's inhaler, she told her 1.7 million Instagram followers: "After a really positive few months with Roman having a diagnosis & on thickened liquids, he has a little wheeze & cough so we are back here. It's still a win if we don't end up in A&E."

Doctors have said Roman needs a special thickener – which won’t get into his lungs – instead of thin fluids from now on.

This treatment could be something the tot is on for “years” as experts try and figure out an alternative.

Explaining the reality for her son, Lucy said: “When we pick up the thickener, he can’t have any thin fluids for quite a long time – potentially years.

“So no lollies and ice-creams, no normal water or juice. Everything has to be a really thick consistency to stop it entering his lungs.

“But we have an answer. Maybe it’s not the full picture. I don’t know yet because we’ve not seen his consultant – but it’s something.”
