Lucy Mecklenburgh rushes son Roman to doctors again as baby battles several infections

Lucy Mecklenburgh and Ryan Thomas’ poorly son Roman was rushed to the doctors again after suffering a nasty infection.

TV stars Lucy and Ryan have both been worried sick about their adorable two-year-old infant, who was rushed to intensive care in September after suffering breathing difficulties.

Lucy previously revealed how Roman had turned “blue” in his cot because he suffers from “viral induced wheeze”.

Thankfully the toddler, who put on a ventilator, has recovered, only to now be struck down with an ear and urine infection.

"Back to the doctors,” wrote devoted mum Lucy in a post on her Instagram account.

“He’s [Roman] been super sleepy for the last three days, so I wanted to get him checked over to make sure it’s nothing serious.

"It’s an ear and urine infection, poor baba!

"Very happy we don’t have to spend a night in A&E though. Antibiotics and cuddles."

Lucy shared a cute picture of her cuddling her baby boy as he cradled in to her following his latest illness ordeal.

It’s certainly been a tough few months for former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy and her actor boyfriend Ryan, who found celebrity fame on Coronation Street.

Roman’s health has understandably pulled on their heartstrings as they prepare to welcome a second child.

Lucy is pregnant with the couple’s second baby, but in a recent interview on the Snot, Sweat and Tears podcast, the 30-year-old revealed the worry her and Ryan experienced when Roman was rushed to hospital.

"I heard sort of grumbles at 3am and like I think we all do, well if they’re not sounding like it’s a big scream and they’re in pain, you think, ‘Oh well they’re just having a little dream,” recalled Lucy.

"I watched him on the monitor and he seemed fine, and at 4am something didn’t feel right.

"I watched him on the monitor and he was moving very slowly, side to side, and I thought, ‘This doesn’t feel right and I want to go and see him'" she continued.

"I think it’s in all of us and as mums we just know don’t we?

“Anyway, Basildon Hospital and St Mary’s in London, I just want to say a huge thank you. I was in the safest hands ever.”

Lucy's voice then cracked as she added: "They absolutely were wonderful and I need to thank them and the ambulance service for arriving so promptly, for keeping my son here and it’s, um… God it’s quite emotional actually, talking about that."

Later in the interview Lucy said sshe believes Roman being isolated from extended family members and friends during the coronavirus -1>coronavirus pandemic has affected his immune system.

She said later: "I don’t know this for a fact, but I think potentially Roman was born ten days before Covid and because he was kept so isolated – literally isolated for six months – he didn’t have the chance to fight off viruses.

"So when he was in hospital, the test came back that he had six viruses, so what looked to me as a snotty nose was six viruses, so that’s what his little body was having to fight and that’s potentially why he was so poorly and got to the stage of needing a ventilator.

"But it does make you think, if he had been in a normal world at the beginning, would he have been able to fight those viruses.

"Would he have already had them and fought them off. Do you know what I mean? He wouldn’t have had six at once."
