Lucy Mecklenburgh has opened up about 'struggling' during the first few months of motherhood in a brave and candid social media post.
The 28-year-old former TOWIE star shared an adorable picture of baby Roman on Instagram alongside an honest account of being a first time mum.
In the snap, that she said was taken at 4am, an exhausted Lucy cradled her bundle of joy and gripped his dummy in her mouth.
The first time parent welcomed Roman with her fiancé Ryan Thomas earlier this year, however her journey into motherhood also coincided with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
"I adore my son, every time I look at him I can’t believe I made this perfect baby boy and when he smiles & laughs my heart bursts with love . BUT I’ve really struggled now for 3 months maybe heightened by lockdown," she wrote.
The reality star went on to explain that breastfeeding was relentless but it was "wonderful for bonding" and added that "sleepless nights aren't getting any easier."
Lucy also explained that she had been quiet on social media because she was worried about online trolls.
"I don’t want to post what looks like ‘perfect parenting’ but also don’t want to deal with dramatic headlines & online trolls for telling the truth!”
"Here’s the truth.. Nights are long & lonely, there are days I don’t want to do this anymore & just want a break but I have no choice as I breast feed him every 3 hours so I feel trapped & like my only purpose is a milk machine," she addmitted.
"I’m constantly told to nap when he naps but when then do I eat, shower, pump, reply to texts & emails, do the washing, just have a HOT cup of tea in the garden & feel like a normal human Being for 10mins!!"
"I’m so grateful to have a happy, healthy baby boy and wouldn’t change it for the world but motherhood is tough the tiredness, tears & mum guilt I don’t think I was fully prepared for and I wish more people showed the happy times and the tough times."
Lucy rounded off her heartfelt message with a nod to fellow mums, commending them on their 'amazing' work.
"To all fellow mummas you are beyond amazing superhuman machines. This is for sure the hardest but most rewarding job that exists," she concluded.
Since sharing the post earlier today, Lucy has received an overwhelming amount of praise from her friends and fans over the candid post.
Among the kind messages was one from fellow TOWIE star Chloe Lewis, who wrote: "It's the hardest thing in the world! But your doing amazing Luc."
Other celeb mums such as Myleene Klass also noted that she is doing 'brilliantly'.
