Lucy Kennedy reveals Ryan Tubridy is her dream guest on Living With Lucy

Lucy Kennedy has revealed she dreams of living with Ryan Tubridy for her hit TV show, Living With Lucy, saying: “The nation needs to see him in his paisley pyjamas.”

The sparky presenter says Tubs would be “great craic” and that Irish audiences would love to see the other side of the Late Late Show host.

Says Lucy: “I think the nation would like to see him in his little paisley pyjamas, probably smoking a cigar, beside a log fire, wearing a dressing gown and reading something brainy like Ulysses.

“I’d be there in my Penneys pyjamas, drinking cheap wine and watching Fair City. I think together, our worlds could just work.”

She’s been trying to convince him, but hasn’t had any success so far. “I’ve known Ryan for 14 years, and if he hasn’t succumbed by now, he seems unlikely to at this stage. He’s fiercely private.

“But he should! I think it would be good for him as well. He’s great craic. He is probably more fun than people realise. He would be brilliant on Living With Lucy.”

Lucy, 43 says Tubs, 46, is in her top 10 ultimate houseguests, with British broadcaster Piers Morgan also high on the list to move in with while the cameras roll.

She loves living with strangers for the TV show, saying: “Most normal people would die at the thought of doing it. That’s why I think there’s a few beers missing from my keg.

“I’m interested in finding out about people – I love psychotherapy. I’ve gone to study psychotherapy twice and something intervened and it didn’t happen. That’s the job I would have done if I hadn’t done this. But I can see the similarities.

“If I arrive into a stranger’s house, within seconds, I’m doing a wee, I have the kettle on. I use their towels, I’ve borrowed their socks.

“They’re total strangers, but I never think twice. We’re all people; we’re all the same. Celebrities are just us, with money. They have the same worries and anxieties.

“I don’t move in with people to be their friends, although sometimes we become friends. Not always. It’s to show you what they’re like to live with: it’s not about us becoming mates. It’s more Louis Theroux. I used to be the poor man’s Davina McCall, now I think I’m the poor man’s Louis Theroux.”

Lucy calls herself a “jack of all trades” having done a number of jobs: merchandiser, air hostess, television producer and radio sales rep. The mother-of-three has has just written a children’s book, The Friendship Fairies, which is out now.
