Lucy Fallon pleads with Coronation Street bosses not to kill off Bethany Platt

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has begged show bosses not to kill her character off.

The beauty, who plays troubled Bethany Platt, has announced she is quitting the soap in the New Year.

She says she has no idea how the teenager will exit the cobbles - but doesn't want it to be in a coffin.

Lucy is desperate for the door to be kept open for a return and knows it's going to be hard to say goodbye to her co-stars after Christmas.

She told the Sunday Star : “I don’t know if Bethany will be killed off yet.

“I haven’t been told what the storylines ahead of my exit will be, so I could be absolutely dead.

“Obviously I’d be sad if that happened. It would mean closing that door.

“Because it was my decision to leave, if my character gets killed off I won’t be annoyed - I’m going to be dead nice to the writers from now on!”

Lucy, 23, has played Bethany on Corrie since 2015.

It has been rumoured she could enter the I’m A Celebrity jungle but she appeared to pour cold water on talk of her heading for the Outback.

But will she be joining Ant and Dec in the Jungle? (ITV)

She added: “I don’t know what I want to do next. I’m keeping my options open.

"I’ll see what happens. I’ll maybe have a bit of a holiday after I finish at Corrie.

“There are loads of things I’d like to do. At the moment I don’t think I want to do stuff like I’m A Celebrity. I’d rather see what happens first.”

She confirmed she is leaving the ITV soap in a statement two weeks ago.

She said: “After the most incredible four years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me.

"I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people every day.

"I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.”
