Lucy Fallon hopes people stop thinking she's a schoolgirl now she's left Corrie

Lucy Fallon has joked that by the time she can get back to work, people will have forgot she played a schoolgirl in Coronation Street.

The 24-year-old waved goodbye to Weatherfield back in March where she spent five years playing teenager Bethany Platt.

Lucy wanted to leave the ITV soap to explore new opportunities but the current coronavirus pandemic has put a halt on a lot of work plans.

Speaking to The Sun, the Blackpool actress said: "It was really difficult to make the decision to leave, but I’d been there for five years and it was all I'd ever known.

"I'd never done theatre or anything away from Corrie and after the grooming storyline where I won quite a few awards, which was amazing, I realised if I didn't leave and try other things I might end up wondering, 'What if?'.

"But obviously Covid-19 has thrown it all up in the air now. As I left, work was starting to pick up and take off and now everything has stopped.

"But I do know there are loads of people in much worse situations than me and I've been very lucky. I'm trying to stay positive about it, but it’s obviously a bit sad having nothing to do."

Though Lucy does hope being out of the public eye for a little while may have its benefits when a bit of normality does resume.

"Hopefully one advantage to leaving will mean people will stop thinking I really am a schoolgirl when I’m out.

"I was at our local Carluccio’s in the Trafford Centre in Manchester a few months back and ordered a bottle of wine, and the waiter came over and insisted I show him ID because the manager had seen me playing a child on TV.

"So hopefully when all this is over I’ll be able to be treated as an adult for the first time."

Lucy has been keeping busy, however, during the current lockdown and surprised fans with a hidden talent.

She treated fans earlier this month to a rendition of the Billy Eilish song No Time To Die, posting a video to her Instagram page.

Lucy belted out the James Bond theme while sitting on the floor and modestly joked that she was 'butchering' the powerful ballad, but her followers strongly disagreed.
