England manager Phil Neville hailed Lucy Bronze ‘the best player in the world’ after her superb performance in the win over Norway.

Bronze created the Lionesses’ opening two goals before adding a third herself with a sublime strike from range as her side booked their place in the Women’s World Cup semi-finals.

The Lyon right-back was a class apart against formidable opposition in Norway with Neville declaring ‘there is no player like her’ in women’s football.

Neville told BBC One: “I think we’ve seen tonight Lucy Bronze is the best player in the world, without a shadow of a doubt – with her athleticism and quality. There’s no player like her in the world. I played full-back but never to that level.”

England will take on hosts France or tournament favourites and defending champions USA in their semi-final match with Neville insisting his side fear no one.

"We want to play them both [France and USA], I’m not bothered who we play. We’ll go to Lyon, the atmosphere and occasion will be incredible. The players have proved the bigger the occasion, the better we are. We’re having fun."
