Lucy Bronze and Jordan Henderson win England Player of the Year awards for 2019

Jordan Henderson and Lucy Bronze have been named as England's Players of the Year for 2019.

Both Henderson and Bronze won the Uefa Champions League with Liverpool and Lyon respectively, with Bronze taking home the BT England Women's POTY award for the second time.

Bronze played an integral role as the Lionesses reached the semi-finals of last summer's Women's World Cup, while England also won the SheBelieves Cup.

The Lyon star appeared in 18 out of a possible 20 international fixtures, and also became the first English player to win Uefa's prestigious Women's Player of the Year award in August after helping Lyon to win four trophies.

Bronze beat Ellen White (second) and Beth Mead (third) in the vote, while Henderson edged out Raheem Sterling (second) and Harry Kane (third) to lift the Men's prize.

Henderson enjoyed a superb campaign with Liverpool as he captained the Reds to Champions League glory, and played a key role in Gareth Southgate's midfield as the Three Lions breezed through qualification for Euro 2020.

The 29-year-old is arguably one of England and Liverpool's most underrated players, and also led the Reds to success in the Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup finals.
