Lucky punter that scooped €11.2 million lotto jackpot sold in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow makes contact

A lucky punter that scooped a monster €11.2 million jackpot has made contact with the National Lottery.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at the Spar Service Station in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.

This was 6th Lotto jackpot win this year with jackpot prizes alone totalling over €40.7 million.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we have been contacted this morning by the lucky ticketholder and arrangements are currently being made for the claim to be made when the winner is ready to collect their prize.”

Meanwhile, a steady stream of other winners at National Lottery headquarters banished any sign of the Monday blues in Dublin City centre today as over €160,000 was paid out in other Lotto and scratch card prizes.

Other winners making claims today included a jubilant Lotto syndicate from Lloyds Pharmacy in Castletroy in Co. Limerick who collected a €60,099 prize which they won on Wednesday 14 August.

Seven of the 20 person syndicate made their way to Lotto HQ to pick up their prize and they celebrated in style despite the fact that they missed out on the €10 million jackpot on offer that night by one solitary number.

One of the lucky Limerick syndicate, Rebecca Ryan said: “To come to visit the National Lottery’s Winners Room is probably a once in a lifetime moment which we will cherish forever.

"We might have narrowly missed out on the €10 million jackpot but this is still a very special moment for us all to celebrate together.

"Since we got the news last week, we have been absolutely buzzing with all of the excitement and now that we’ve got a taste for winning, we’re hoping that we get back to Lotto HQ very soon to claim an even bigger prize,” she said.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at the Supervalu store at the Castletroy Shopping Centre on the outskirts of Limerick City.

The Lloyds’s Pharmacy syndicate weren’t the only pharmacy employees who landed a Lotto bonus as a woman who works for a North Dublin pharmacy claimed a cheque for €25,622 this morning too.

"It was a Monday to remember for another pharmacy worker, Lucia Donnelly who, along with her husband Herby, collected their cheque after matching five numbers and the bonus ball on Saturday’s Lotto draw (24 August).

The couple, who live in Lusk in North County Dublin, were overjoyed with their windfall and admitted that both were struggling to sleep on Saturday night after learning of the win.

Lucia attributes the Lotto win to her late mother, who passed away in January this year after a battle with Alzheimer’s, as one of the numbers she uses (29) was her mum’s birthday.

Lucia Donnelly said: “We are absolutely thrilled. All of the numbers we play are family birthdays and house numbers so they have certainly come up trumps for us today! It has been a difficult couple of months since mam passed away so perhaps this is a little gift from her”.

Lucia stated that she was heading straight into work, in Stack’s Pharmacy in Lusk, Dublin, after she left Lotto HQ but the couple will continue their celebrations when she finishes this evening.

Herby Donnelly stated that the first thing on the couple’s shopping list is a nice holiday.

He also wants to finally fulfil a lifelong dream and go to Old Trafford and see Manchester United play Liverpool this October.

Speaking on learning of the school caretaker said: “I go out on a Saturday evening, so I had only walked out the door when Lucia called me. "I ran straight back to the house and checked the numbers myself.

"Lucia had the Lotto draw paused but we checked online and on the app just to be sure our eyes weren’t deceiving us. It was an unbelievable feeling!”

Their lucky ticket was one of two tickets that fell one number shy of the €2 million jackpot with both ticketholders sharing the €51,244 prize. The couple bought their ticket in Centra Lusk, Dun Emer, Lusk, Co. Dublin.

Also claiming a massive prize today was a family from Cork City who won the €75,000 top prize on the All Cash Platinum scratch card. The winning ticket was purchased in the Bon Secours Hospital on College Road, Co. Cork.
