A Co Derry woman has cleaned up after scooping a £13,000 win on the football – with a £1 bet.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, staked a quid on an eight-fold accumulator over the weekend with huge odds of 13,365/1.
The bet won thanks to a number of sporting upsets in Saturday’s EFL Cup, with Cambridge United beating Birmingham 1-0, and Coventry holding out for a 1-0 win against MK Dons, despite going down to 10 men after just 27 minutes.
The lucky punter couldn’t believe her luck when all of her weekend predictions landed - including Cambridge Utd, Bradford, Lincoln, Ipswich, Coventry, Northampton, Cheltenham and Port Vale.
Minibet boss Tom McBride said he was delighted for the winner, despite the big payout.
He said: “What’s even more amazing is that she picked the eight teams completely at random as a lucky dip, so Lady Luck was clearly on her side.
