Lucky neighbours on ordinary street share out thousands of pounds after surprise lottery win

Two lucky neighbours will share thousands of pounds between them after a surprise lottery win this week.

The residents living on Greencroft Road, in Wallasey, were announced as the winners of the Postcode Lottery on Monday.

Thanks to their postcode, CH44 4BS, the neighbours have bagged £1,000 each as a welcome financial boost during the ongoing lockdown.

A spokesperson for the competition said: "Two people in Wallasey are celebrating today after winning £1,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

"The Greencroft Road neighbours netted the windfall when CH44 4BS was announced as a Daily Prize winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Monday 25th May 2020.

"People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson sent his well-wishes to the winners. He said: “What a great surprise to start your week!

"Congratulations to our winners.”

Over the last few months, addresses across Merseyside have enjoyed the rewards of playing the postcode lottery.

Eight lucky neighbours living on Broxholme Way, in Maghull, all received £1,000 each on April 28.

Postcodes on Blackthorn Crescent, in Stockbridge Village and families in Bromborough also won.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales in the postcode lottery goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £500 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted by Ramblers which has received over £8.8 million in funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Ramblers is dedicated to looking after the paths and green spaces of Great Britain and works to create happier, healthier communities.

Many good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and local charities can next apply for funding in August.
