Lucky Midlands Lotto punter scoops €500,000 just days after setting up National Lottery account online

It was a case of beginner's luck for a Lotto punter who scooped €500,000 just two days after setting up a National Lottery account online.

The Midlands man who scooped Tuesday's Daily Millions top prize, was ecstatic as he picked up his cheque at Lotto HQ in Dublin yesterday.

He said: “I can’t believe it, it’s crazy. I just opened my National Lottery account at the weekend and now I’m staring at a cheque for half-a-million euro.

"It’s an incredible feeling! I got an email telling me I was a winner so I read it and then logged into my account and saw that I won. I tell you, it was the best email I ever got in my life!”

Speaking about his future plans for his windfall, the cautious punter said he was going to do some thinking before splashing out.

He said: “I am going to lodge this money into my bank and I’m going to wait for a few weeks and make my plans before I spend a cent of it.

"It’s an exciting time but I am going to do my best to remain calm and I am only telling three or four of those closest to me!”

His lucky numbers were: 2, 17, 20, 30, 34, 39 and the bonus ball was 32.

This latest €500,000 win is the ninth top prize win so far in 2019 on the Daily Million and Daily Million Plus games and is the second top tier prize won by an online player.

It is also the fourth top prize win on Daily Million Plus so far this year.
