Lucky man rescued in heroic operation after getting into difficult while fishing off Howth coast

One lucky man was rescued during a heroic operation in north Dublin yesterday after being stranded while fishing.

A call was made to the Coast Guard after a man on an inflatable boat was being pulled out to sea while fishing alone off the coast of Howth.

The man's engine was failing to start and he was being dragged away from land when the alarm was sounded.

The local Howth RNLI launched their lifeboat and saved the man who was thankfully unharmed, and he was returned to shore safely.

The Howth RNLI took the chance to remind people to adhere to the Government advice on water activity to stop any accidental exposure to Covid-19.

They said: "We would ask that people adhere to recently published public health advice from the Government when they resume any water-based activity and help minimise the risk to Search and Rescue and frontline emergency services from being unintentionally exposed to coronavirus."
