Lucky London schoolgirl to ride at Goodwood Festival after mentoring from Frankie Dettori

A London schoolgirl has been given the chance to ride at the prestigious ‘Glorious Goodwood’ horse racing meet.

18-year-old A-Level student Khadjah will be the subject of a documentary, which follows her journey from Brixton’s Ebony Horse Club to the Magnolia Cup at Goodwood later this summer, where she will compete against other amateur jockeys, including former Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton and model Vogue Williams.

Khadjah has been riding for five years with EHC, a charity and riding school which aims to use young people’s interaction with horses as a tool for social change in one of the capital’s most disadvantaged areas.

The documentary will depict Khadjah’s progress across a four-month period in the build up to the Goodwood Festival, which has included training at elite racing hubs at Newmarket and Lambourn, as well as mentoring from star names such as Frankie Dettori.

The Magnolia Cup is run on Ladies’ Day at the Festival, and this year will support Wellbeing of Women, a charity which focuses on medical research into female reproductive and gynaecological health.
