Lucky John Lewis employees took to social media early today to share this year's full Christmas advert starring Sir Elton John.

The full advert was released on Thursday morning, and the entire workforce of John Lewis and Waitrose were given the opportunity to see it first and share it early via their social media accounts.

The new advert focuses on singer Sir Elton John and how his life changed when he was given a piano for Christmas.

Named The Boy & The Piano, it sees 71-year-old Sir Elton John sat at the piano at home playing the first few notes of his famous hit Your Song.

From there, it works backwards through its life, from some of his most famous concerts to eventually, him as a young boy receiving a piano from his mother and grandmother for Christmas.

Dan Cooper, partner and Christmas buyer for the company was one of the select few to share the advert ahead of its release.

He said: "Here's the John Lewis & Partners Christmas ad! I'm so proud to be a partner."

Emma Dilard, a personal stylist at the company was also one of the select few to share the advert.

The advert will air on television this evening at 9.15pm on ITV during Dark Heart.

Craig Inglis, Partner and Customer Director, John Lewis & Partners said: “Think back to all of the Christmases that you have enjoyed over the years - I’m sure there is one very special gift that stands out above all others.

"That’s the magical feeling we wanted to bring to life this year.

"The ad tells the story of why Elton’s piano was more than just a gift and we hope to remind customers of that special moment when they’ve given a gift at Christmas time that they know will be treasured forever.”
