A lucky Irish punter was over €76,000 richer after a huge bet landed on Saturday afternoon.
The Paddy Power customer, a regular at their shop in Ballyfermot, put down an 80 cent each-way Lucky 15 bet on four big-priced horses, costing €24.
The first of his selections Annie Quickstep defied odds of 33/1 to win the 12.25 Lingfield before Treacysenniscorthy did the business in the 12.50 at Leopardstown at 20/1.
And when Dalton Highway won at 7/1 at the same venue, it all came down to a horse called Sumos Novios, who represented the last leg of the Lucky 15 in the feature race of the day at Limerick.
The 16/1 shot was not fancied by many in the 2.50 race but this punter's luck was in as he won in convincing fashion.
It completed a mammoth €76,287 festive windfall for the bettor at the eyewatering odds of over 72,000/1.
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Staff working in the shop were absolutely buzzing this afternoon when they realised this man’s luck had come in. He’s been a customer there for donkey’s years so it’s lovely to see a familiar face doing well.
“It’s been a testing couple of days for punters but this gentleman’s luck was clearly in, even against such spectacular odds of 72,000/1."
