A Gateshead bingo player couldn't believe their luck after scooping a life-changing £50,000 National Game jackpot.
It was the shock of a lifetime for the player when they called 'house' during a recent session at Buzz Bingo at the Metrocentre.
The lucky winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was flabbergasted as the entire bingo hall burst into celebration with fellow players and staff cheering and applauding their efforts.
They said: "When the caller said I'd won £50k I couldn't believe it! I've never been on holiday abroad so I'm going to book a holiday, pay off my mortgage and car, and treat my kids and grandkids."
The huge win comes just one week after Buzz Bingo reopened its Metrocentre club following the coronavirus lockdown.
New measures are now in place including a reduction in capacity, Perspex screens and sanitising stations for the safety of both customers and staff.
Justine Curren, assistant manager at Buzz Bingo said: "We can’t believe that just one week after reopening we've had a player win the National Game and scoop the big £50K prize.
"We're utterly delighted to bring a little happiness to the community. The atmosphere when they won was incredible – everyone was on their feet cheering. It’s certainly a moment we won't forget."
