Lucky EuroMillions winner has £122million jackpot paid out in fifth biggest win ever

A lucky EuroMillions winner has today received the fifth biggest payout in history after hitting the jackpot earlier this week.

The ticket holder scooped an incredible £122,550,350.80 by matching all the numbers last Friday.

Today they got their hands on the nine-figure sum after the National Lottery confirmed the ticket's legitimacy.

According to The Sunday Times Rich List the winner has immediately become the 976th richest person in the country.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said on April 2: "What brilliant news, one UK winner has scooped tonight’s massive £122M EuroMillions jackpot and they are now the fifth biggest ever National Lottery winner!

"This is the second UK EuroMillions jackpot winner this year, after a lucky ticket-holder scooped the £39M jackpot in the draw on New Year’s Day.

"Players are being urged to check their tickets and to give us a call to claim this fantastic prize."

The winner will now be two places above Frances Connolly in The National Lottery Rich List.

Frances, who won £114million in 2019, recently revealed she had given away an estimated £60million of her fortune to family, friends, the local community and charity.

The win is greater than the fortune amassed by Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua (£107million) or Spurs winger Gareth Bale (£114million).

Jane Park became Britain's youngest lottery winner when she scooped up £1 million in 2013. Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in Scotland, netted a huge £161,653,000 on July 12, 2011.

Lottery winners can sign an agreement for full publicity if they want, but Friday's ticket-holder has chosen to remain anonymous.

Others who hit the jackpot have also chosen to withhold their identity, including the country’s biggest ever winner who banked a £170million in October 8, 2019.

In 2020 four EuroMillions jackpots were won in the UK.

This is the second EuroMillions jackpot won in the UK this year. On New Year’s Day a single UK ticketholder, who also chose to remain anonymous, banked £39million.
