Two car owners had a lucky escape in Kilkenny this morning after parts of a tree fell during the awful weather.
A large branch fell on Castle Road near the city but somehow managed to avoid smashing the windows on either car.
Kilkenny itself doesn't actually have a weather warning today but like most other parts of the country it has been seeing awful conditions.
Gardai and the fire service were called out to this particular incident but luckily nobody was hurt.
A garda spokesperson said: "These two vehicles had a lucky escape on Castle Road in Kilkenny this morning. Gardaí and Fire Services attended the scene. As the weather deteriorates, take extra care when out and about.
"Please reduce your speed, allow extra time for journeys. Be conscious of extra surface water on roads, fallen debris and strong cross winds."
Met Eireann are forecasting the awful weather to continue for the rest of the day with caution advised.
A forecaster said: "Wet and windy today with persistent rain over much of the country. The rain will be heavy at times with surface flooding in places. A few drier intervals will develop in the northeast later.
"Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with fresh to strong, gusty northwest winds and gales on some coasts.
"Rain will continue in many areas overnight, but becoming lighter. There'll be some dry intervals in Ulster and Leinster as winds ease with mist and fog patches forming, but fresh northwesterlies will continue in Munster and Connacht. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees."
