Lucky escape for residents after shots fired into house in Mahon, Co Cork

Gardai are investigating after a group of armed men fired shots at a house in Mahon last night.

The incident took place at 11:45pm in the Avenue De Rennes area of Mahon.

A group of males armed with a firearm reportedly fired shots through the front door of the house before fleeing on foot - CorkBeo reports.

Searches in the area are ongoing and are being assisted by members of the Armed Support and Garda Dog Unit.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and investigations are ongoing.
