SUV plunges onto popular tourist walkway at Bondi Beach after flipping over railing

A car has fallen several metres and landed on its roof after flipping over a railing onto a walkway at Sydney's Bondi Beach.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred following an earlier traffic accident on a nearby road.

Two drivers were exchanging contact details when one of the vehicles — an SUV — rolled forwards and flipped over the railing.

The car landed next to the public toilets and just shy of the inclining scrub, which leads down to the concrete pathway wrapped around the beach.

Police were called to the scene on Notts Avenue about 10.45am and found the small SUV upside down below the street.

Notts Avenue is home to Bondi Icebergs Club, situated on south Bondi's cliffside about 100 metres up from where the car landed.

The area is a popular thoroughfare for tourists walking from Bondi to Coogee.

Notts Avenue is closed, and officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command are urging people to avoid the area as a recovery operation is coordinated.
