Lucky escape as no serious injuries after M1 crash which left passenger trapped

The occupants of a car had a lucky escape after being involved in a crash on the M1 that left one person trapped.

No serious injuries were reported by police who attended the incident on the M1 heading south between Junction 29A to 29 near Mansfield on Thursday evening (December 10).

Pictures taken in the aftermath of the single-car crash show what remains of the red car - which is completely unidentifiable - crumpled at the side of the carriageway near the verge.

All emergency services attended the incident where a passenger had been trapped, but officers praised the vehicle safety systems in place.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "M1 South J29A to J29. Single vehicle collision earlier today (December 10).

"Despite the damage, no serious injuries but passenger was trapped. Vehicle safety systems doing their job again - incredible.

"All services in attendance."
