London mayor Sadiq Khan has offered a pair of Euro 2020 final tickets to one Londoner who books their first Covid vaccine .

One lucky Londoner and their guest will be invited by the Mayor to watch the final at Wembley in his drive to get people booked in for their vaccine.

To enter the competition, entrants are asked to fill out a form showing proof of booking or jabbing between July 6 and 8 before 8.59am on Friday.

To be entered into the prize draw twice, the mayor urged people to post an update to their social media profile, encouraging other Londoners to get the vaccine, screenshot it, and then upload it to the form.

It comes as the Standard reported that the Government is gambling on Covid cases starting to fall in August because the virus will “run out of people to infect”.

Ministers believe the peak could be reached next month as the disease rips through people who are unvaccinated and those who have only had a single jab.

“The modelling will give a more accurate indication of when a peak will occur,” said a source.

“Mid-August is broadly where we believe it will come. It will run through the unvaccinated and the single-dosed, but because such vast numbers of people now have antibodies and can resist it, it will then start falling off because it will run out of people to infect.”
